Fitzgibbon Bushland
Sunday September 22 11 a.m.
Cnr. Lacey and Linkfield roads, Carseldine

The Fitzgibbon site has one of the highest population densities of Squirrel Gliders on the East Coast. In NSW and Vic. this animal is threatened. Only in Queensland is it still common. The Qld Government wants to develop the site for housing. This will motally wound this population of gliders and ruin and important linkage to nearby wetlands.

The site is an Important habitat for migratory birds and significant to the Cabbage Tree Creek catchment, Bramble Bay and Moreton Bay ecology.

Fitzgibbon is not the only lowland coastal vegeation under threat in SEQ. Between 1991-1999 a total of 25,100 ha of bushalnd where cleared in coastal areas between Noosa and Cooloongatta.
