This area is regionally significant because of the diverse species of flora and the connection to tother regionally significant forest reserves in Greenbank, and as a vital component of the Flinders Peak to coastal ecosystems system of fauna habitat ranges. It contain numerous large trees and hollows habitat for birds, gliders and possums.
Tarong Energy with help from the State Development Department is planning to clear around 90% of this area for an industrial park.See the BREC Media Release on this proposed development
