STOP THE VALLEY BYPASS!

Come to the

Black Sunday Rally

Victoria Park opposite the RBH

Sunday 13th September 11am

The Inner Northern Coalition (representing residents groups in suburbs from Hamilton to Bardon) invite you to the Black Sunday Rally in Victoria Park to protest against the Lord Mayor's planned City Valley

Bypass.

If the Bypass goes ahead it will be Brisbane's biggest new motorway in decades. The preferred route runs from the Breakfast Creek Hotel, under the Showgrounds, past the RBH and right through Victoria Park, York's Hollow and several suburbs.

WHO WANTS MORE AIR POLLUTION?

Invited speakers include the Premier Peter Beattie, Transport Minister Steve Bredhauer, Councillors Soorley, Hinchcliffe and Hayes and Prof Ian Lowe.

We encourage you to wear black - arm bands,

t-shirts, gas masks, etc.

YOUR SUBURB IS UNDER THREAT

Five reasons NOT to build this freeway

1) An extra 16 000 tonnes of deadly air pollution

each year. Particle pollution in front of the

RBH will breach national air quality standards

every day of the year.

2) Council's road building plans amount to $2.3 Billion

- an extraordinary price for us to pay for more

air pollution and more roads instead of better

public transport.

3) This road will funnel thousands more cars into YOUR

suburbs - Spring Hill, Paddington, Albion, Hamilton,

Toowong, Milton, Ashgrove, Bardon, Valley, Brisbane

City. An extra 100 thousand cars on the roads every day.

4) The new road will tear our communities apart - physically

AND economically.

5) The community is being held to ransom. Lord Mayor Soorley

has said: "You can't have light rail or bus lanes until

I build this road."
